Letter : to Colonel Vanderdussen, 1740 July 13.

Contemporary copy of a letter from Oglethorpe at Fort San Diego (Florida) to Colonel Vanderdussen. The letter describes a march "with drums beating and colors flying" to Fort St. Diego, Oglethorpe's reconnaissance parties, and a party of Indians which was sent to Saint Augustine "to attack any parties that come out." Oglethorpe mentions the loss of a ship which was to have brought him guns, and conveys his approval of Vanderdussen's "expeditious landing on Point [Quartell]." The copy is addressed to Richard Hill, a merchant of Charleston (S.C.).
